Workshop Equipment
A propane forge and a portable anvil table
In past years I picked up an interest in blacksmithing while creating knives at the Ferrymead Heritage Park.
Due to an overly dirty forge, I decided to create my own propane forge as well as a portable anvil table for knifemaking.
The forge body is constructed from an LPG canister, with some experimental magnesium-based refractory cement used to create an insulating barrier.
Achieving a good gas/air mixture in the forge was a challenge. I used a venturi burner to mix the fluids properly.
Further insulation and a smaller chamber will improve its ability to superheat steel.
