Halo Light Installation
Articulated, illuminated rings to be placed above musicians
This installation was created for the exchange - XCXC in Waltham, Ōtautahi.
Two concentric, illuminated aluminium rings are suspended from a series of pulleys and are actuated with motors to create a halo effect above a musician/ performer.
The opposing motion of the two rings combined with LED effects creates a visually captivating centrepiece in a venue, and provides downward illumination for a performer.
The MVP was created in the space of ten days with a budget of $600, together with Jimmy Allen, who has played a critical part in installing and programming the LED strips.
I will continue to add more motors in order to make more elaborate motions/effects possible.
The motion is controlled via a webpage that can be accessed over Wi-Fi and using a smartphone or PC.
